Pricing
ScratchSpace Pricing varies depending on a number of factors, including complexity, time, and duration of service. Unless otherwise agreed, all services calls require a one hour minimum service, with additional service billed in half hour increments. There is no charge for travel time within the immediate service area during normal business hours.

Basic Consulting Services $75 per billable hour
  • The majority of our services fall under this category.

Advanced Consulting Services $100-$150 per billable hour
  • Special projects, and advanced Unix/Linux services fall under this category.

Emergency Consulting Services add $50 per billable hour
  • After Hours services fall under this category unless previously arranged.

What is a "billable hour" ?

The time a ScratchSpace technician spends on a problem may differ from the billable time. For example, if a technician needs to spend an excessive amount of time reading documentation on a product, or troubleshooting a new hardware installation issue, you may be billed less than the actual time. In other words, customers don't pay a technician to learn a new product. While all technicians are experienced in the particular area they are trained, technology moves at a pace such that we are always learning new things.

Cost vs. Value

Value isn't measured in dollars alone. Advertised pricing for computer consultants spans a wide range, from the unemployed tech worker temporarily making ends meet, to the corporate sponsored armies of uniformed geeks.

A less experienced consultant charges less per hour, yet generally spends more time resolving a problem. In the end they may provide a less than adequate fix. A large company is generally not capable of providing personalized service, the customer often has to deal with a new person each visit. The customer is often burdened with explaining the history of the computer problem several times through the escalation chain.

When you request help with your computer, you are often providing a complete stranger with access to your private data. ScratchSpace regards our relationship with our customers as sacred. ScratchSpace technicians will always :

  • Show up at the customer's location at the times specified
  • Treat each customer with the respect they deserve
  • Only access private data when it's necessary and authorized by the customer
  • Maintain excellent communication with the customer during the service period
  • Ensure that each problem has been addressed satisfactorily
  • Bill an appropriate fee for service
